ELECTIONS

Explore the various roles within the CNSA that you can run for below. Elections and By-Elections occur on an annual basis in the Winter Semester.


Official Delegate (OD)


Oversees the proceedings of the entire chapter. Promotes the CNSA and its affairs in accordance with the purpose and objectives of the association, and represents MacEwan Nursing Students on the Regional and National level. Furthermore, the Official Delegate will host weekly meetings, and assist with the facilitation of New Student Orientation, New Student Mixer, Sim Wars, National Nursing Students’ Week, the planning of Gala’s, volunteering excursions, and the mentorship program.


Receives funding from the Faculty of Nursing to attend Regional and National Conferences.


Associate Delegate (AD) RN

Assists the Official Delegate in overseeing the chapter’s proceedings. Acts as a proxy in the OD’s absence for voting purposes. Attends all meetings of the Regional and National Assembly. Advocates for the BScN students of the chapter.

Receives funding from the Faculty of Nursing to attend Regional and National Conferences.

Associate Delegate (AD) RPN

Assists the Official Delegate in overseeing the chapter’s proceedings. Acts as a proxy in the OD’s and AD (RN)’s absence for voting purposes. Attends all meetings of the Regional and National Assembly. Advocates for and recruits BScPN students, working to ensure equal opportunity between RN and RPN students within the chapter and faculty.

Receives funding from the Faculty of Nursing to attend Regional and National Conferences.


Director of Events

Oversees and facilitates the community, fundraising, and social events of the chapter. Ensures that events are aligned with CNSA objectives, and presents plans and details to the the executive team and fellow members.

Director of Finance

Oversees and maintains the financial affairs and records of the chapter. Processes the paperwork necessary for the yearly financial report, applications for various grants, budgets for the chapter’s events, and all other financial activities.


Director of Recruitment

Oversees and promotes the recruitment of both RN and RPN students, and works to increase the profile of the CNSA at MacEwan. Coordinates New Student Mixer and facilitates the Mentorship Program for each student intake.

Director of Communications

Oversees and records the technicalities and affairs of meetings. Creates a detailed agenda for meetings, booking rooms and recording meeting minutes. Documents the attendance and CCR (Co-Curricular) hours of all CNSA members.


Social Media Officer(s)

Oversees and maintains the social media presence of the CNSA, and focuses on engaging with the nursing student body. Answers all questions and direct messages to the best of ability before disseminating to Director of Communications.


ELECTION RULES

Submission
You must submit your: name, year of nursing, position you’re running for, and ~250 words describing why you’d like the position.

Voting
Every nursing student present when the election takes place receives one vote for each position, and may only vote for one candidate for each position.

Candidates may vote for themselves.

Facilitation
The Official Delegate will facilitate the elections for all positions except for the OD title (if running). The AD RPN facilitates for the OD title

Order
The following will be the order of speeches: SMO(s), DoR, DoF, DoE, DoC, AD-RPN, AD-RN, OD

Alphabetical order will be used to determine the order of candidates.

Speeches & Questions
Candidates will be given a max of 2 minutes for their speech. All candidates for the role will speak, followed by a 2 minute question period.

By-Elections
In the event of a tie or a position being vacant after the election, a By-election will be held.
